Things to do and see in Chiang Mai

City & Temple Tour
Visit Wat Suan Dok Temple was built by King Kuna; see the several of white stupa contain the ashes of Lanna King and Chiang Mai Royal family. And not far from Suan Dok Gate, Wat Pra Singh temple compound includes the Lai Kam Chapel. One of temples is most important in Chang Mai; it has a biggest Chidee at Chide Laung temple, Chiang Man Temple, the oldest temple in Chiang Mai, built by the King Meng Rai. Drive around the old city, you can see the city Moat and the Ruin City Gate. Continue to visit the largest central market, Wororot Market.
Doi Suthep, Phuping & White Meo
Visit the most sacred Wat Phathat Doi Suthep, 15 kms. From the city, 3,500 ft. above sea level and built in 1383. See the marvelous golden pagoda which is contain the relics of the Lord Buddha. Enjoy the panoramic view of Chiang Mai city and for 4 kms. To the King's Winter Palace.
"Phuping Palace", see the delightful garden. (Open Fri, Sat, Sun and Holiday).Continue by truck along the mountain and bubpy road to visit white Meo hilltribe villages, see the scenic route pass the beautiful Northern mountain and the forest. The village see their living life which are very simple.
Home Industries
Visit the handicraft center at Sankampaeng district. This sightseeing highlight is to see the local people makes the handicrafts including Lacquerware, Silverware, Hand woven textiles by silk and cotton, fine Teak wood carving and umbrella on paper parasols which are hand painted in a variety of floral and animals disigns.
Elephants at work, Orchid Nursery and Butterfly farm
Take the morning excursion to the famous Maesa elephant camp, 30 kms. From the city. This tour you will know everything about elephant. See nice show of elephant bathing, mahouts teach elephants to drag logs, response to commands and work in the jungle. Excursion will continue to visit the beautiful Orchid Nursery, containing more than 50 different types of colorful orchids which are exotic year round blooms and the Butterfly farm.
Doi Inthanon National Park, Waterfall & Hilltribe Village
Visit Doi Inthanon National Park, the highest mountain of Thailand (8,500 feet above sea level). The beautiful Maeklang Waterfall and Vachirathan Waterfall, then visit the great pagodas which were built for the highness Majesties King and Queen. Then trip also can visit Meo hilltribe village which is living by the Royal project and the poor Karen hilltribe villages and Karen hilltribe villages.
Chiang Rai One Day
Long journey tour from Chiang Mai by road along picturesaque scenic routes pass the beautiful Northern mountain and valleys via the Hot Spring at Maekachan District and Chiang Rai to visit Yao and Akha hilltribe villages, explore the villages which are very simple, unique costumes, their own tradition and dialect, the trip continue to "Mae Sai", the Myanmese border and the Northern most point of Thailand. Enjoy shopping the Myanmese items, lunch at the local restaurant. Then visit the world famous "Golden Triangle", the land of three countries met (Laos, Myanmar & Thai). See the panoramic view of Maeklong River. Visit the archeological remains at "Chiang Sean", the first capital of Northern Thai. Transfer back to Chiang Mai.
Experience on Elephant Riding and Bamboo Rafting
This trip is good for the one who does not have enough time to touch the really vast and dense jungle atmosphere which is 56 kms. Northwards of Chiang Mai, see elephant shows, take a time for riding on elephant for 1 hour through the jungle. Lunch is provided. After lunch, continue the trip by Bamboo Rafting along Mae Ping River for 1 hour. Visit orchid nursery and butterfly farm. Return to Chiang Mai.
Hot Spring and Cave
Visit the Sakampeang Hot Spring where you will have the chance to bath in a pool filled with water from the spins, enjoy the beautiful garden and climb down in the caves.
Mae Hong Sorn Day Trip
After breakfast, leave for Mae Hong Sorn by the earliest flight from Chiangmai to Mae Hong Sorn. Arrive at Mae Hong Sorn, meet and transfer to the pier for taking the boat trip along Pai River for 45 minutes to visit the "Padong LongneckTribe", then take the boat back to Mae Hong Sorn. Lunch at the local restaurant. Afternoon, visit the beautiful Myanmese stlye temples at Wat Jongkam, Wat Jongklang, Wat Doi Kong Moo and Wat Hao Wieng. Transfer to Mae Hong Sorn Airport for taking the late flight back to Chiangmai or connecting to Bangkok.
Lisu Lodge Adventure
In the morning, join a transfer from your hotel in Chiang Mai by local taxi (Songtaew) to the starting point (Baan Huay Pong : about 1 hour drive) for your easy jungle walk to an Akha Village where you will meet a Hilltribe family and enjoy tea or soft drink. Then cycle (mainly downhill) for about 8 kms to the Mae Tang Elephant Camp. From here, you will enjoy an hour to 1 and 1/2 hour elephant ride through the beautiful mountain scenery.
After your traditional picnic at the elephant camp, embark on an inflatable raft for a 1 or 1 and 1/2 hour white water rafting on the Mae Tang River. Then transfer to Lisu Lodge, enjoy a farewell drink and transfer back to Chiang Mai.
